We get a lot of questions from customers before they buy. Really good questions. And we think they deserve really honest answers. So here's everything you've ever wanted to know about everyday jewelry — no fluff, no sales spin.
"Will it turn my wrist green?"
This is the number one question, and it's a fair one. The short answer: it depends entirely on the material.
The greenish tint you sometimes see on your skin is a reaction between your skin's chemistry and certain base metals — most commonly copper. It's not harmful, but it's definitely not the look anyone is going for.
Gold filled pieces bond real gold over a metal core using heat and pressure. The gold layer is thick enough that your skin never comes into contact with the base metal during normal wear — which means no green, no reaction, no problem. Gold plated pieces have a thinner gold layer, and over time (especially with frequent wear, sweat, or water exposure) that layer can wear down and expose the metal underneath. This doesn't happen overnight, but it's worth knowing — especially if you have sensitive skin.
Our honest recommendation: if you want a piece you'll wear every single day for years, invest in gold filled. If you're adding variety or trying a new style, gold plated is a great option worn with a little more care.
"Can I wear it in the shower?"
For gold filled pieces — yes. Genuinely. Water alone won't harm them.
That said, we recommend avoiding prolonged exposure to harsh soaps, shampoos, or chemical-heavy products, as these can dull the surface over time. A quick rinse in the shower? Totally fine. Soaking in a bubble bath with heavy bath oils every night? Maybe take it off for that one.
For gold plated pieces, we suggest removing them before showering when possible to preserve the gold layer and keep them looking their best for longer.
"Can I sleep in it?"
